About Marie Ruprecht
Born in 1975 and based in Upper Austria, Marie Ruprecht is a visual artist whose practice is rooted in a deep understanding of experimental design. She graduated with honors from the University of Arts Linz and pursued doctoral studies under the mentorship of renowned scholars. Her international career is marked by prestigious residencies and grants, including stays in Japan (BKA Residency), Iceland (SIM House), and Spain, as well as multiple studio grants from the State of Upper Austria. Marie's work is represented in significant public and private collections, such as the Angerlehner Museum, the CICA Museum in South Korea, and the Art Collection of Upper Austria. Beyond her studio practice, she is a member of the Künstlerhaus Wien and co-initiator of the KUNSTSALON.
Artist Statement
My practice explores the tension between the tangible and the intangible. Through an interdisciplinary approach—spanning painting, sculpture, and photography—I investigate the liminal spaces where materials and meaning intersect. Central to my work is a deep dialogue with materiality. Whether working with the fluidity of ink, the fragility of porcelain, or the raw texture of charred wood, I allow the inherent qualities of each medium to guide the creative process. My work balances precise planning with the unpredictable beauty of chance, resulting in minimalist, reduced compositions.
